What’s the area like?

Columbus’ best attractions are located within walking distance from the landmark Yankee on High. Living here you will be in the center of urban life. In the Arena District, you can catch a hockey game or concert at Nationwide Arena, a baseball game at Huntington Park, or socialize at one of the area’s many popular restaurants and bars.  Venture to the north and you will stroll along High Street in Columbus' popular Short North Arts and Entertainment District.   Directly across the street is the Greater Columbus Convention Center and a little further south you find the theater district, State of Ohio Capitol, as well as many downtown corporate office plazas.  The Ohio State University campus is only a mile and a half away, but students can ride free on COTA busses from the Yankee on High to the heart of campus.  The Yankee on High is one of the few locations in Columbus that offers car-free urban living.  But if you do own a vehicle(s) we also offer secure garage parking, with access to one or more spaces.

What is there to do nearby?

Located in the heart of the city, you can take in a game at the Nationwide Arena, home to the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets, or one of many Buckeye sporting events at the Ohio State University. Afterwards, enjoy a beer or meal at one of the Arena District’s many dining and bar options. If you prefer more interactive sports, take in an indoor skating adventure at the Dispatch Ice Haus skating rink or go for a jog through the diverse Italian village neighborhood or the historic Goodale Park, home of Comfest. When the weather warms, the Columbus Clippers are playing at Huntington Park, just a few minutes’ walk from your home at Yankee on High.  Since 1876, locals and guests alike have spent weekend mornings perusing North Market, home to 20 farmers and 35 merchants each growing season. Then, enjoy an afternoon in the eclectic Short North Arts District, featuring numerous art galleries and shops. Movie buffs will also enjoy the state-of-the-art movie theater, located just down the street. Whatever activities you enjoy, our location offers something for everyone. Enjoy the Yankee on High – Columbus’ best urban living experience.

Cocktails & Small Bites

Denmark is open on the mezzanine. Denmark is a Euro-style cocktail venue serving vintage and modern cocktails, using only quality ingredients and spirits. In addition, an extensive wine selection, beers, and other beverages are offered. Exquisite small bites will be available on a seasonal menu.

The Yankee on High was the former home of the iconic Yankee Trader. This landmark building is the traditional gateway building to Columbus’ trendy Short North District.  It completed a three year restoration in 2014 that resulted in its transformation into the new Yankee on High.  The building is now home to Bareburger, Denmark, (a Euro-style cocktail bar), the North Room, (a meeting and event venue in the heart of the convention and hotel district), TRIAD Architects, (the award winning design firm) and the Yankee on High Lofts, (real lofts in an urban center.)
